Valtech help IMEX build commodities exchange
04-Oct-2009 - IMEX select Valtech to build commodities exchange

IMEX were looking to build a commodities trading exchange in a new market area. Speed was key, since IMEX planned to be first to market with a new innovative offering.

IMEX decided to outsource the software development to Valtech. ‘Valtech’s experience using Agile methods to deliver complex software quickly was key to our decision’ said Alan Lynott, Head of Application Development at IMEX.

Alan Lynott explains that ‘Valtech’s Agile software development approach helped us deliver our vision rapidly, whilst providing sufficient flexibility to allow us to both to evolve a solution and to focus our budget on our true business priorities. By delivering working software in short iterations and tightly coupling with the business we were able to ensure the software was what the market required.’

The first release was delivered to live production after 9 weeks and Valtech delivered the entire project early. The software platform that Valtech built was key to IMEX’s success. Lynott concluded that ‘Valtech’s Agile approach helped us deliver our 1st release early so we were able to achieve the goals of our business model faster than originally planned’.
